Teachable is the platform for you if you’re an entrepreneur or content creator looking for a way to transform knowledge into income.
Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) founded by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a course builder himself, decided to create his online learning platform with features that he envisioned his classes and students would enjoy after getting frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms had.
In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart obtained Teachable for about $250M.

Here are some of the features I liked in Teachable:
Ease of Use
Teachable’s best feature is being less of a tech headache and more of being your partner-in-arms to a business.
As stated previously, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Tech beginners will find it easy to go around and operate the course.
When you register on the website, it leads you to the dashboard. There you will see headers such as users, sites, sales, emails, and courses. It is pretty straightforward. It is a lot easier for the user to upload documents, review analytics, issue refunds, and communicate with students.
Customization
Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive making it possible to incorporate as many tools as you need. You will also find that it is easy to create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.
Users can select to make an appealing landing page with Teachable’s large choice of topics for your online course website. All you’ve got to do is upload the logos, text, images and choose color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

Completion Certificates
You’d need a Pro or Business Plan to access this feature. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and title of the program. You may change aspects of your certificate like logo, color scheme, and preset pictures. Here are some things I do not like about Teachable now that I’ve talked about what I enjoyed about it:
- No free plans.
- Teachable doesn’t have a free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
- 5% transaction fees
- There’s a 5% transaction fee for people who opt for the Basic plan.
- No phone service.
- There is no telephone number to contact for queries.
Why should you attempt it?
I’m not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I have had many a day being the most confused about the bunch. However, with Teachable, I found it fairly easy. It does take a while to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out. Akin to a duck testing the waters first.
You can teach the way you would like to know by using customization tools to personalize your content. Thinkific Vs Teachable Vs Lms
You don’t have to worry about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to look after taxes, payouts, affiliates, and writers. So all you’ve got to worry about is making the content you wish to sell.
To Sum It Up
For complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to concentrate more on course production than the business’s tech and marketing aspect, Teachable is an approachable platform.
You can create your online course on any topic you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a business. Why not start today?
