Teachable Times

teachable-review

Teachable is the platform for you if you’re an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into income.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a class builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct accessibility to students some platforms had. He decided to create his own online learning platform with features he envisioned his courses and students could like.

In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for about $250M.

In A Nutshell Teachable Times

Teachable allows one to make and sell online courses and training with videos, quizzes, and lectures. It has a straightforward and intuitive interface that makes it an outstanding platform for complete beginners. You don’t have to have a virtual assistant or team member to do it because it already deals with your sales monitoring, payment collections, and affiliates commissions. Instead, you can focus more on course construction.

Here are some of the features I liked in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a technician hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.

As stated previously, Teachable prides itself on its ease of use. Tech novices will find it easy to go around and operate the course.

When you register on the site, it leads you to the dashboard. There you will see headers such as users, sites, sales, emails, and courses. It is pretty straightforward. It is easier for the user to upload documents, review analytics, issue refunds, and communicate with students.

Customization

Teachable’s list of partners is pretty extensive making it possible to integrate as many tools as you need. You’ll also realize that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.

Teachable offers a large choice of topics for your online course site which you can select to create an attractive landing page. All you’ve got to do is upload the logos, text, images and choose color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

If you’re an advanced user, you have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML to the Code Snippets region.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

It has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you’d need while attempting to analyze your path sales. You can see how well your courses have performed in specific phases.

You can offer your pupils discounts should they decide to obtain another course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and bundles from availing higher plans. It is a fantastic way of increasing conversions.

You can check student registration and engagement when it comes to student monitoring. You’ll get reports on how your students interact with your courses, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.

Teachable deals with technology and marketing for you so you do not need to worry about tracking student and sales insights with their comprehensive dashboards.

Completion Certificates

You’d need a Pro or Business Plan to access this feature. The course will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and title of the course. You may change aspects of your certificate such as logo, color scheme, and preset pictures. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

You don’t need to get a 3rd party for payment processing as Teachable comes with its own refundable payment processing through Teachable Payments.

You may select your payment currency from a broad range of choices. You may also generate coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will manage affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

You have the option of charging your courses as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription which your students can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Customer Support

The support is responsive. It has a comprehensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you may ask as you begin creating your first class. Butif you have any additional questions, you can create a ticket. Usually, you’ll hear back from service within one day. Professional Teachable customers have access to live chat support.

Now that I’ve talked about what I liked about Teachable, here are a few things I don’t like:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable does not have a free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5% transaction fees
  • There’s a 5 percent transaction fee for those who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone support.
  • There’s no telephone number to contact for inquiries.

Why should you try it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy person out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being the most confused about the crowd. However, with Teachable, I found it reasonably simple. It does take some time to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out. Comparable to a duck testing the waters .

You can teach how you would like to learn by utilizing customization tools to personalize your content. Teachable Times

You don’t have to think about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to take care of payouts, taxes, affiliates, and authors. So all you’ve got to worry about is creating the content that you want to sell.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to concentrate more on course production than the business’s technology and marketing aspect.

Teachable helps you turn the online courses you may make on any subject you love into a company. Why not start today?
