If you’re an entrepreneur or content creator looking for a way to transform knowledge into earnings, Teachable is the platform for you.
Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) founded by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously called Fedora. Nagpal, a course builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct accessibility to students some platforms needed. So, he decided to create his online learning platform with features he envisioned his classes and students could enjoy.
In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for approximately $250M.

Here are some of the features I liked in Teachable:
Ease of Use
Teachable’s best feature is being less of a technician hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.
As stated previously, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Tech beginners will find it easy to go around and operate the course.
When you register on the site, it leads you to the dashboard. There you will see headers like users, websites, sales, emails, and courses. It’s pretty straightforward. Uploading documents, reviewing analytics, issuing refunds, and communication with students becomes a lot easier for the user.

It is possible to incorporate as many tools as you need as Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive. You will also realize that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities
It has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you’d need while attempting to analyze your path sales. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific phases.
You can provide your students discounts should they decide to obtain another course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages from availing higher plans. It is a good way of increasing conversions.
You can check student registration and engagement in regards to student tracking. You’ll get reports on how your students interact with your courses, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.
Teachable deals with tech and promotion for you so you don’t need to worry about tracking sales and student insights with their comprehensive dashboards.
Completion Certificates
To access this feature, you’d need a Pro or Business Plan. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the course. You may change aspects of your certificate like logo, color scheme, and preset pictures. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Here are a few things I don’t like about Teachable now that I have talked about what I liked about it:
- No free plans.
- Teachable does not have a free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
- 5% transaction fees
- There’s a 5% transaction fee for people who opt for the Basic plan.
- No phone support.
- There’s no phone number to contact for queries.
Why should you attempt it?
I am not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being the most confused about the bunch. However, with Teachable, I found it reasonably easy. It does take a while to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out. Comparable to a duck testing the waters first.
You can teach how you would like to know by using customization tools to personalize your content. Teachable, Obedient, Reverent Heart
You don’t need to worry about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to take care of payouts, taxes, affiliates, and authors. So all you have to worry about is making the content that you want to sell.
To Sum It Up
Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who want to concentrate more on course production than the business’s tech and marketing aspect.
You may make your online course on any subject you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a business. Why not start now?
