If you are an entrepreneur or content creator looking for a way to transform knowledge into earnings, Teachable is the platform for you.
Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a class builder himself, decided to create his online learning platform with features that he envisioned his courses and students would like after getting frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms had.
In 2020, sources state that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for about $250M.

Here are some of the features I liked in Teachable:
Ease of Use
Teachable’s best feature is being less of a tech headache and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.
As mentioned previously, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Going around and operating the course will be found easy by tech beginners.
The dashboard is the first thing a user would see after registering on the site. There you will see headers such as users, sites, sales, emails, and courses. It’s pretty straightforward. It is a lot easier for the user to upload files, review analytics, issue refunds, and communicate with students.
Customization
Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive making it possible to integrate as many tools as you need. You will also find that it is easy to create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.
Users can select to make an appealing landing page with Teachable’s large selection of themes for your online course site. All you have to do is upload the logos, text, images and select color schemes to fit your business’ branding.
You have the option of inserting custom CSS or HTML into the Code Snippets region if you are an advanced user.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities
It has all of the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you would need while trying to analyze your path sales. You can see how well your courses have performed in specific phases.
For higher plans, you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages. With this, you can offer your students discounts should they choose to buy another course. It is a fantastic way of increasing conversions.
You can check student registration and engagement when it comes to student monitoring. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.
Teachable deals with tech and promotion for you so you do not need to worry about monitoring student and sales insights with their comprehensive dashboards.
Completion Certificates
You would need a Pro or Business Plan to get this feature. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the program. You may change aspects of your certificate such as logo, color scheme, and pre-set images. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).
Payment Options
You do not have to get a 3rd party for payment processing as Teachable comes with its own refundable payment processing through Teachable Payments.
You may choose your payment currency from a broad range of choices. You may also generate coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will manage affiliate payouts automatically.
Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.
You have the option of charging your classes as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription which your pupils can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
Customer Support
The support is responsive. It has an extensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you may ask as you begin creating your first course. Now that I have talked about what I enjoyed about Teachable, here are a few things I don’t like:
- No free plans.
- Teachable does not have a totally free plan. However, it does offer a 14-day trial.
- 5 percent transaction fees
- There is a 5% transaction fee for people who opt for the Basic plan.
- No phone support.
- There’s no telephone number to contact for queries.
Why should you attempt it?
I am not the most tech-savvy person out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being the most confused about the bunch. However, with Teachable, I found it reasonably easy. Comparable to a duck testing the waters , It does take a while to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out.
You can teach how you would like to learn by utilizing customization tools to personalize your content. Teachable Ipad App
You don’t have to think about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to take care of payouts, taxes, affiliates, and writers. So all you have to worry about is creating the content you wish to sell.
To Sum It Up
Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who want to focus more on course creation than the business’s tech and marketing aspect.
