If you’re an entrepreneur or content creator looking for a way to transform knowledge into income, Teachable is the platform for you.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) founded by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a class builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms had. So, he decided to create his own online learning platform with features he envisioned his courses and students could like.

In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for about $250M.

We can’t deny that we want to take a slice from the ever-growing demand from the quick and booming industry of online learning.

Entrepreneurs, founders, and small business owners that wish to make online courses into a potentially lucrative business will find using Teachables to be ideal. Teachable is used by folks like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income to sell their courses to students.

More than 100,000 founders sold over $1 billion in courses and training for students all around the world as of this moment.

Here are some of the features I enjoyed in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a technician headache and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.

As mentioned previously, Teachable prides itself on its ease of use. Tech novices will find it easy to go around and operate the course.

When you register on the site, it leads you to the dashboard. There you may see headers like users, sites, sales, emails, and courses. It’s pretty straightforward. Uploading documents, reviewing analytics, issuing refunds, and communication with students becomes a lot easier for the user.

Customization

It is possible to incorporate as many tools as you need as Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive. You will also find that it is easy to create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages using their power editor.

Teachable offers a large selection of topics for your online course website that you can select to create an attractive landing page. All you have to do is upload the logos, text, images and choose color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

You have the option of inserting custom CSS or HTML into the Code Snippets Area if you’re an advanced user.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

It has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you’d need while attempting to analyze your course sales. You can see how well your courses have performed in specific periods.

You can provide your students discounts should they choose to obtain another course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages from availing higher plans. It is a fantastic means of increasing conversions.

In regards to student monitoring, you can check student enrollment and engagement. You’ll get reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.

You do not need to worry about monitoring sales and student insights with their comprehensive dashboards. Teachable deals with tech and marketing for you.

Completion Certificates

You would need a Pro or Business Plan to get this feature. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the program. You may change aspects of your certificate like logo, color scheme, and preset pictures. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

You do not need to find a 3rd party for payment processing as Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing through Teachable Payments.

You may choose your payment currency from a broad assortment of choices. You may even generate coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will handle affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

Your students can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. You also have the option of charging your courses as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription.

Customer Support

The support is responsive. It has an extensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you might ask as you start creating your first course. But, if you have any additional questions, you can create a ticket. Usually, you’ll hear back from support within 24 hours. Professional Teachable customers have access to live chat support.

Now that I’ve talked about what I liked about Teachable, here are some things I don’t like:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable doesn’t have a free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There is a 5% transaction fee for people who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone support.
  • There is no telephone number to contact for queries.

Why should you try it?

I am not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being the most confused about the crowd. However, with Teachable, I found it fairly easy. It does take some time to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out. Comparable to a duck testing the waters first.

You can teach how you would like to know by utilizing customization tools to personalize your content. Help Authors Self Publish Teachable

You don’t need to worry about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to look after payouts, taxes, affiliates, and writers. So all you’ve got to worry about is making the content that you wish to sell.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who want to concentrate more on course production than the business’s technology and marketing aspect.

Teachable helps you turn the online courses you may make on any subject you love into a business. Why not start today?
