Teachable is the platform for you if you’re an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into income.
Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) founded by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a course builder himself, decided to create his online learning platform with characteristics that he envisioned his courses and students could enjoy after getting frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms needed.
In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for approximately $250M.

Teachable allows one to create and sell online courses and coaching with videos, quizzes, and lectures. It’s a straightforward and intuitive interface that makes it an excellent platform for beginners. You don’t need to have a virtual assistant or group member to perform it because it already deals with your sales monitoring, payment collections, and affiliates commissions. Instead, you can concentrate more on course construction.

We can not deny that we want to take a slice out of the ever-growing demand from the quick and booming industry of online learning.
Entrepreneurs, founders, and small business owners that wish to create online courses into a potentially lucrative business will find using Teachables to be excellent. Individuals like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income utilize Teachable to market their courses to students.
You also have enterprises like The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.
As of this moment, more than 100,000 founders sold over $1 billion in classes and training for students all around the world.
Here are some of the features I enjoyed in Teachable:
Ease of Use
Teachable’s best feature is being less of a tech hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.
As mentioned earlier, Teachable prides itself on its ease of use. Going around and operating the program will be found easy by tech novices.
When you register on the website, it leads you to the dashboard. There you will see headers such as users, websites, sales, emails, and courses. It’s pretty straightforward. Uploading documents, reviewing analytics, issuing refunds, and communicating with students becomes a lot easier for the user.
Customization
Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive making it possible to incorporate as many tools as you want. You’ll also realize that it is easy to create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.
Users can select to make an attractive landing page with Teachable’s large selection of themes for your online course site. All you’ve got to do is upload the logos, text, images and select color schemes to fit your business’ branding.
If you’re an advanced user, you have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML into the Code Snippets region.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities
When you’re attempting to analyze your course sales, Teachables has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you would need. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific periods.
For greater plans, you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and bundles. With this, you can provide your pupils discounts should they choose to buy another course. It’s a good means of increasing conversions.
You can check student registration and engagement when it comes to student monitoring. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.
Teachable deals with technology and promotion for you so you do not need to worry about tracking student and sales insights with their comprehensive dashboards.
Completion Certificates
You would need a Pro or Business Plan to access this feature. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the course. You may change aspects of your certificate such as logo, colour scheme, and preset pictures. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).
Payment Options
You do not have to get a 3rd party for payment processing as Teachable comes with its own refundable payment processing through Teachable Payments.
You may choose your payment money from a wide range of choices. You may also generate coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will manage affiliate payouts automatically.
Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.
You have the choice of charging your courses as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription which your pupils can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
Customer Support
The service is responsive. It has a comprehensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you may ask as you begin creating your first course. You can create a ticket if you have any additional queries. Normally, you will hear back from service within one day. Professional Teachable clients have access to live chat service.

Here are a few things I don’t like about Teachable now that I’ve talked about what I liked about it:
- No free plans.
- Teachable doesn’t have a free plan. However, it does offer a 14-day trial.
- 5% transaction fees
- There’s a 5% transaction fee for people who opt for the Basic plan.
- No phone service.
- There’s no phone number to contact for queries.
Why should you try it?
I am not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being very confused about the crowd. But with Teachable, I found it fairly simple. It does take a while to explore the web site, its features, and test stuff out. Akin to a duck testing the waters .
You can teach how you want to learn by using customization tools to personalize your content. Hack Reactor Teachable
You don’t need to think about marketing. All you’ve got to worry about is creating the content that you wish to sell since Teachable has built-in features to look after payouts, taxes, affiliates, and writers.
To Sum It Up
For complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who want to concentrate more on course production than the business’s technology and marketing aspect, Teachable is an approachable platform.
You can create your online course on any topic you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a business. Why not start now?
