Teachable is the platform for you if you’re an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into earnings.
Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a course builder himself, decided to create his online learning platform with features he envisioned his classes and students could like after getting frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms had.
In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for approximately $250M.

It’s a straightforward and intuitive interface which makes it an outstanding platform for beginners. It deals with your sales tracking, payment collections, and affiliates commissions. Thus, you don’t have to have a virtual assistant or group member to do it. Alternatively, you can concentrate more on course construction.

Here are some of the features I enjoyed in Teachable:
Ease of Use
Teachable’s best feature is being less of a tech hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.
As stated previously, Teachable prides itself on its ease of use. Going around and operating the course will be found easy by tech novices.
The dashboard is the first thing a user would see after registering on the site. There you may see headers such as users, sites, sales, emails, and classes. It is pretty straightforward. It is easier for the user to upload files, review analytics, issue refunds, and communicate with students.
Customization
You can integrate as many tools as you want as Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive. You will also realize that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages using their power editor.
Users can select to make an appealing landing page with Teachable’s large selection of themes for your online course website. All you have to do is upload the logos, text, images and choose color schemes to fit your business’ branding.
If you are an advanced user, you have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML into the Code Snippets Area.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities
It has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you’d need while attempting to analyze your course sales. You can see how well your courses have performed in specific periods.
For greater plans, you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and bundles. With this, you can offer your students discounts should they decide to obtain a second course. It’s a fantastic means of increasing conversions.
When it comes to student tracking, you can check student registration and engagement. You’ll get reports on how your students interact with your courses, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.
You don’t need to worry about tracking student and sales insights with their comprehensive dashboards. Teachable deals with technology and promotion for you.
Completion Certificates
To get this feature, you would need a Pro or Business Plan. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the course. You may change aspects of your certificate such as logo, color scheme, and pre-set images. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).
Payment Options
Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing via Teachable Payments. With this, you do not have to find a 3rd party for payment processing.
You may choose your payment currency from a broad range of choices. You can also create coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will manage affiliate payouts automatically.
Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.
You have the option of charging your classes as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription which your students can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
Customer Support
The support is responsive. It has an extensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you may ask as you begin creating your first course. But, if you have any additional queries, you can create a ticket. Usually, you’ll hear back from support within 24 hours. Professional Teachable customers have access to live chat support.

Now that I’ve talked about what I liked about Teachable, here are some things I don’t like:
- No free plans.
- Teachable doesn’t have a totally free plan. However, it does offer a 14-day trial.
- 5 percent transaction fees
- There’s a 5 percent transaction fee for people who opt for the Basic plan.
- No phone support.
- There is no phone number to contact for queries.
Why should you try it?
I’m not the most tech-savvy person out there. Far from it, actually. I have had many a day being the most confused about the bunch. But with Teachable, I found it reasonably easy. It does take a while to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out. Comparable to a duck testing the waters first.
You can teach the way you would like to know by using customization tools to personalize your content. Itunes Teachable App
You don’t need to think about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to take care of payouts, taxes, affiliates, and writers. So all you have to worry about is creating the content you wish to sell.
To Sum It Up
Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who want to focus more on course creation than the business’s tech and marketing aspect.
You may make your online course on any subject you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a business. Why not start now?
