If you are an entrepreneur or content creator looking for a way to transform knowledge into earnings, Teachable is the platform for you.
Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously called Fedora. Nagpal, a class builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms had. So, he decided to create his own online learning platform with features he envisioned his classes and students would like.
In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart obtained Teachable for approximately $250M.

Here are some of the features I liked in Teachable:
Ease of Use
Teachable’s best feature is being less of a tech headache and more of being your partner-in-arms to a business.
As stated earlier, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Going around and operating the program will be found easy by tech novices.
The dashboard is the first thing a user would see after registering on the website. There you may see headers like users, sites, sales, emails, and classes. It’s pretty straightforward. Uploading files, reviewing analytics, issuing refunds, and communicating with students becomes easier for the user.
Customization
Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive making it possible to integrate as many tools as you want. You will also realize that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages using their power editor.
Users can select to create an appealing landing page with Teachable’s large choice of themes for your online course website. All you’ve got to do is upload the logos, text, images and choose color schemes to fit your business’ branding.
You have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML into the Code Snippets region if you are an advanced user.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities
It has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you would need while trying to analyze your path sales. You can see how well your courses have performed in specific phases.
You can offer your students discounts should they choose to buy another course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages from availing higher plans. It’s a good means of increasing conversions.
When it comes to student monitoring, you can check student registration and engagement. You’ll get reports on how your students interact with your courses, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.
Teachable deals with tech and promotion for you so you do not need to worry about tracking student and sales insights with their comprehensive dashboards.
Completion Certificates
You’d need a Pro or Business Plan to access this feature. The course will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the program. You may change aspects of your certificate like logo, colour scheme, and pre-set images. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).
Payment Options
Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing through Teachable Payments. With this, you don’t have to get a 3rd party for payment processing.
You can select your payment currency from a wide range of choices. You may even create coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will handle affiliate payouts automatically.
Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.
You have the option of charging your classes as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription which your pupils can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
Customer Support
The support is responsive. It has an extensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you might ask as you begin creating your first course. You can create a ticket if you have any additional queries. Normally, you’ll hear back from support within one day. Professional Teachable customers have access to live chat service.

Now that I have talked about what I enjoyed about Teachable, here are a few things I don’t like:
- No free plans.
- Teachable does not have a free plan. However, it does offer a 14-day trial.
- 5 percent transaction fees
- There is a 5% transaction fee for those who opt for the Basic plan.
- No phone service.
- There is no phone number to contact for queries.
Why should you try it?
I’m not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being very confused about the bunch. But with Teachable, I found it reasonably simple. It does take some time to explore the web site, its features, and test stuff out. Comparable to a duck testing the waters first.
You can teach how you want to know by using customization tools to personalize your content. Teachable Webinar Signup
You don’t need to worry about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to look after payouts, taxes, affiliates, and authors. So all you’ve got to worry about is making the content that you wish to sell.
To Sum It Up
Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who want to concentrate more on course creation than the business’s tech and marketing aspect.
Teachable helps you turn the online courses you may make on any topic you love into a company. Why not start now?
