If you’re an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into earnings, Teachable is the platform for you.
Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) founded by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously called Fedora. Nagpal, a class builder himself, decided to create his online learning platform with features he envisioned his courses and students could like after getting frustrated over the lack of direct accessibility to students some platforms needed.
In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for about $250M.

Here are some of the features I liked in Teachable:
Ease of Use
Teachable’s best feature is being less of a tech hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.
As stated previously, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Going around and operating the course will be found easy by tech novices.
When you register on the website, it leads you to the dashboard. There you will see headers such as users, websites, sales, emails, and courses. It’s pretty straightforward. Uploading files, reviewing analytics, issuing refunds, and communication with students becomes easier for the user.
Customization
You can incorporate as many tools as you want as Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive. You’ll also find that it is easy to create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages using their power editor.
Users can select to make an appealing landing page with Teachable’s large choice of topics for your online course website. All you have to do is upload the logos, text, images and choose color schemes to fit your business’ branding.
If you’re an advanced user, you have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML into the Code Snippets Area.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities
It has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you’d need while trying to analyze your path sales. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific periods.
You can offer your students discounts should they decide to buy another course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages from availing higher plans. It’s a good way of increasing conversions.
You can check student enrollment and engagement when it comes to student tracking. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your courses, their completion rates, and in which the students get stuck.
You don’t need to worry about tracking student and sales insights with their comprehensive dashboards. Teachable deals with technology and marketing for you.
Completion Certificates
To access this feature, you would need a Pro or Business Plan. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and title of the program. You may change elements of your certificate such as logo, colour scheme, and preset pictures. - No free plans.
- Teachable does not have a free plan. However, it does offer a 14-day trial.
- 5 percent transaction fees
- There is a 5 percent transaction fee for people who opt for the Basic plan.
- No phone service.
- There is no phone number to contact for queries.
Why should you attempt it?
I’m not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I have had many a day being very confused about the crowd. However, with Teachable, I found it reasonably simple. Akin to a duck testing the waters first, It does take some time to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out.
You can teach the way you want to learn by using customization tools to personalize your content. Teachable Plugin
You don’t have to think about marketing. All you have to worry about is creating the content you want to sell since Teachable has built-in features to take care of payouts, taxes, affiliates, and writers.
To Sum It Up
Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to focus more on course creation than the business’s technology and marketing aspect.
